ice experiment :)


Ice experiment

For writing, we did an experiment with ice. We had prior knowledge that when u put salt on ice it melts it faster so we wanted to find out if there are any other substances that could do it faster? 

The work that you can see below is my report on what happened in the experiment.
 

Wondering: I know that salt eats away at the ice, but I wonder if there are any other powdery products that will eat away at the ice quicker. my co


Hypothesis:(these vary depending on each child and their hypothesis)



Materials:1/4 Cup each of the following:

Salt

Citric Acid

Baking Soda

Sand

Sugar

5 containers of the same size with ½ cup of frozen water in them

Stopwatch

Level table

Camera


Variables:

Dependent-

Independent-

control-





Procedure:

1. Measure a ¼ a cup of all the powdered substance

Put the powdered substances on all of the ice at the same time

Then start the timer and video and wait for the ice to melt

Observe what happens and then you're done




Results/Observations:

1 hour 14 minutes and 36 seconds - salt
